Is gear lube supposed to have emotional packaging? π
You know it's emotional when... you reply to a comment with: "AMAZING" in caps and this emoji ππ½.
A couple of days ago I replied to a post from Sergio Diaz, talking about Gear Hugger . I didn't know about the product at the moment but the packaging immediately got my attention.
Packaging has the power to tell a story to the customer, and this packaging jumped out because of a few factors, and I'm going to put my designer cap on to explain:

Customer persona: OUTDOOR LOVER, NATURE DRIVEN, HANDY
Even if it's multi-purpose, right away I can see for whom this is made for, what they like, the activities that they enjoy, and where to find them when it's time for adventure, a home repair, or a quick fix-up in the garage.

Identity: After a quick search on my outdoor local store, I can tell you that none of the other brands in the category are placing a very identifiable gray bear riding a bike. Right away I know what they are selling me and their key differentiators focused on taking care of nature and the environment

Product design: The shape looks dynamic, somehow sporty, and looks like it can take some kind of overuse, while camping, fixing a bike, or just by dropping it on the ground.
Emotional details π
π»Storytelling: The bear not only connects the concept of the product to the kind of person that would use it, but it also appeals to the emotional feeling of being outdoors, worry-free of any malfunction, and taking care of its surroundings. At this point I want to know more about this bear, i'm involved!
This brand story can potentially drive multiple scenarios, not only for this product but for others to come. That's the power of a good brand story!
π’ Design: We all have seen the main colors for this kind of product. So this lacquered green is very eye-catching and different!
